Puducherry, Sep 19 : The indefinite strike by the workers of the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) entered the third day on Thursday as the talks held by Transport Minister M O H F Shajahan with the representatives of the employees on Wednesday night have failed.
All the bus services of the corporation came to a standstill following the strike demanding the immediate disbursement of three months pending salary, regularization of contract workers and implementation of the 7th pay commission recommendations to them.
The workers stated that they will call off the strike only if the contract workers were regularized.
Meanwhile, lorries remained off the road in the Union territory today as the Puducherry Lorry Owners Association took part in the All India Strike called by the National Lorry Owners Association demanding the reduction of penalties imposed in the new Motor Vehicle Act. (UNI)
