Puducherry, Sep 14 : In the backdrop of young woman techie Subhasri's death when an illegal banner erected on the road's divider fell on her while riding a two-wheeler on 200-feet Radial stretch along the Thoraipakkam-Pallavaram road on Thursday evening, Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) removed the banners erected on its own.
The BJP had erected several banners to celebrate the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and on Saturday, the party volunteers led by State President V Saminathan removed them.
Later, Mr Saminathan told news persons that the BJP had erected more than 100 banners for the birthday celebration of Mr Modi.
Following the death of Subhasri, they are removing the party banners, he said, adding that the BJP wanted to be a model to other political parties. He also vowed not to erect banners anymore. (UNI)
