Puducherry, Sep 13 : Condoling the death of a young woman techie Subhasri when an illegal banner erected on the road's divider fell on her while riding a two-wheeler on 200-feet Radial stretch along the Thoraipakkam-Pallavaram road on Thursday evening, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Friday ordered to remove all the banners erected on the roads in Puducherry.
In a release here, Mr.Narayanasamy said several banners were erected on Puducherry roads also without the approval of the Municipality and Commune Panchayats. Since, frequent rain accompanied by strong winds was occuring at present here there is possibility of such an accident occurring in Puducherry too.
Hence,people should not erect banners for birthdays, marriages without the permission of the Municipality or Commune Panchayats, he said, adding that LAD Minister A Namasivayam should ponder over this and stringent action be initiated against the offenders.
He advised the people to remove such banners themselves, failing which the Municipality, PWD and Commune panchayats would remove the banners and the cost for the same would be collected from those who erected it and further legal action would be initiated.
The Chief Minister sought the cooperation of all to remove the banner culture from Puducherry which will spoil the beauty of the city. (UNI)
