Puducherry, Sep 3: The entire opposition members on Tuesday staged a walk out from the territorial assembly expressing dissatisfaction on the Speaker’s reply to the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition against him.
AIADMK member A Anbazhagan while, concluding his speech on the general discussion on budget, once again asked the Speaker whether the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition against him would be taken up.
To this, Speaker Sivakozhunthu replied that the no-confidence motion moved by the leader of the Opposition N Rangaswamy was found not in order and hence it was returned. N R Congress member N S J Jayabal then asked the Speaker whether the no-confidence motion given by the other opposition parties be taken up or not and the latter had replied that it would be considered as per the legislative assembly rules.
Not satisfied with the Speaker’s reply, the entire opposition members staged a walk out from the house. As the Chief Minister started his reply on the discussion on general budget, government whip Anantharaman pointed out that the opposition members took part in the discussion and now they staged a walkout when Mr Narayanasamy is replying and wanted the speaker to initiate proper action against them.
After a few minutes, the opposition members came back and participated in the proceedings. After the Chief Minister reply ended, the Speaker adjourned the house till 0930 hours on Wednesday. (UNI)
