Puducherry, Aug 12 : The Puducherry Unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday urged the administration to provide immediate relief to Mahe and Yanam regions of the union territory which were under flood.
In a statement, BJP state president V Saminathan MLA(Nominated) said more than 30 houses in Mahe region were collapsed and the people will have to depend on Kerala for the relief.
He said that it is regretting that none of the Puducherry ministers had visited Mahe or Yanam regions.
Mahe is under the threat of infectious diseases now and the Puducherry administration should be on a war footing and send a medical team along with adequate medicines to the region, Saminathan said.
A sum of Rs 5000 be provided to the affected in the region as an immediate relief, he said demanding adequate relief for Yanam region.
Saminathan also said that Malladi Krishna Rao, the minister from Yaman region blaming Lt Governor for the flood could not be accepted.
The BJP had submitted a representation to the Lt Governor to provide adequate relief to Yanam, he added. (UNI)
