Puducherry, Jun 7: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayansmay on Friday made a surprise visit to government offices here to find out the punctuality of the employees attending their duty.
Accompanied by Chief Secretary Ashwini Kuamr, Mr Narayansamy visited the Personnel and Administrative Reforms department, Vigilance and Budget department.
Even after 9 am, he found several seats vacant and when enquired, other employees informed him that they are on authorized leave and given leave letters. A few had obtained prior permission to report duty late.
However, a few others informed the Chief Minister that this was the work of a lobby and when some of them failed to report duty, others will maintain that they are on authorized leave and this is happening for quite some time.
Following this, Narayanasamy asked the Chief Secretary to prepare list of the absentees and those who gave leave letters and send it to him. (UNI)
