Puducherry, May 12: Amid tight security, re-polling in a lone booth of the Puducherry parliamentary constituency began at 0700 hrs here on Sunday.

Polling in booth number ten of the Kamarajnagar assembly segment in the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency will come to a close at 1800 hrs.

A total of 952 voters (including 473 men and 479 women) will exercise their franchise in the booth today.

The re-polling was necessitated as the presiding officer failed to remove the votes of the mock poll held on April 18 from the VVPAT and continued with the polling process, though he claimed to have deleted the votes from the machine.

Booth agents protested and the polling was then held up. It resumed after replacing the machines. Following complaints the Election Commission of India has directed re-poll today.
