CJ acquits all accused in Sex Racket case

Puducherry, Apr 26 : Puducherry Chief Judge Dhanapal on Friday acquitted all the 18 accused, including police personnel, for lack of evidence in the sensational sex racket case.

Grand bazaar police received a complaint in 2014 that a gang took three girls in captive and indulging them in prostitution.
Police registered a case and started investigation then. When it came to know that police personnel were also involved in the crime, the case was transferred to the CB-CID.

CB-CID personnel confirmed the involvement of police personnel following which cases were registered against 18 persons including eight police personnel. Inspectors Yuvaraj and Sunder, Sub-Inspectors Basha and Balakrishnan and Head Constables Kumaravel and Bhandarinathan and Constables Shankar and Selvakumar were dismissed from service. All the 18 were arrested and are on bail.

When the case came up before the court of the chief judge,all the accused were acquitted stating that the prosecution failed to prove the case with adequate evidences. UNI
