Puducherry, Apr 11: Tourism and Manufacturing are among the key sectors in which businesses in Puducherry can look at investment in Indonesia, its Consul General Ade Sukendar said.
Addressing the members of Confederation of Indian Industry, here on Thursday, he said that Tourism is expected to be the largest contributor to the nation’s GDP in Indonesia and number of tourist centres had been increased.
In the case of education, India was attracting students from Indonesia, especially for IT, as it was affordable and the quality of education was good here.
The Consulate in Mumbai served businesses in both the countries and Puducherry was important for Indonesia as it was closer by sea route.
He urged the trade and industry here to get in touch with the Consulate for details about doing business with Indonesia.
A trade expo will be held in Indonesia in October and Mr.Sukendar invited CII members to participate in the business-to-business focused event.
Mr M Kalaiichelvan, Chairman, CII Puducherry, spoke about the strengths of Puducherry in various sectors and its activities.
He also briefed about the CII-Market Facilitation Services (MFS) with the objective of offering targeted trade and investment facilitation services to Indian companies looking to expand business operations overseas.
