Puducherry, Mar 6 : As many as 34 persons have expressed their desire to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha election on Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) ticket, party Puducherry unit president MAS Subramanian said on Wednesday.
In a statement he said that following the announcement by party founder Kamal Haasan that the MNM would contest all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry alone, applications from aspirants were obtained for the lone Puducherry seat from March 1 to 5.
At a time when it is not clear whether the MNM would form an alliance with any parties. The 34 persons coming forward to contest the election on MNM ticket showed the faith of the people on the leadership of Kamal Haasan and MNM, Subramanian claimed, adding that the applications were handed over to Haasan in person today.
