Bhubaneswar, Jun 01 : Covid 19 cases surged to 2014 in Odisha today with the detection of a record 156 positive cases in the state. Official sources said for the first time the Coronavirus cases on a single day crossed 150 in Odisha with coastal district Kendrapara alone accounted for 50 cases followed by 20 in Cuttack,17 in Ganjam and 14 in Jagatsinghpur. All the 156 covid positive cases reported from 19 districts in the state and 153 of them from the quarantine centres while the rest 3 are local cases. At least seven districts such as Ganjam ,Jajpur, Balasore,Khordha,Kendrapara,Cuttack and Bhadrak districts have reported more than 100 positive cases.
These seven districts together have 1383 of the total 2104 covid cases in the state.Ganjam district has the highest number of 431 coronavirus cases followed by Jajpur (280), Balasore(152), Khordha (141),Kendrapara (139),Cuttack and Bhadrak each with 120 cases. The state has 969 people with corona active cases admitted in various covid hospitals. Seven people have died of coronavirus so far while two have succumbed to some other diseases other than Covid 19.
So far over 3.5 lakh Odias have arrived in the state since May 3 last by train and bus and the state government has set up 16,651 Temporary Medical centres in 6798 Gram panchayats with total bed capacity of 7,42,536 to provide covid 19 health services in rural areas. The government has claimed that the Covid recovery cases in Odisha has gone up above 53 per cent of the total positive cases and the fatality case is the lowest in the whole world. The Odisha government has decided to treat the ward instead of Panchayat as the unit for better covid management in the state. (UNI)
