Covid 19 case rises to 1660 in Odisha with 67 fresh positive cases

Bhubaneswar, May 28 : Covid positive cases in Odisha rose to 1660 with fresh 67 cases reported from ten districts,65 of them from the quarantine centres and rest two being local cases. Official sources said so far 1,39,311 samples have been tested in Odisha and out of them 1660 were found covid positive which included 841 active cases,812 already recovered and seven casualties. Among the 67 positive cases, a maximum 26 positive cases were reported from Ganjam district,25 of whom were from the returnees put in the quarantine centres. Besides, Ganjam eleven each positive cases wee also reported from Jajpur and Khordha district taking the total coronavirus cases in these two districts to 253 and 11o respectively. The other eight districts reported single digit figures of covid positive cases and mostly from the quarantine centres.

As far as covid positive cases are concerned Ganjam district topped the district list with 394 cases followed by Jajpur (253) ,Balasore (139), Khordha (110 ) and Bhadrak(106 ). These five districts together accounted for 1002 covid cases, almost 60 per cent of the total positive cases in the state. However, in terms of active covid cases, Jajpur district with 127 cases, topped the list followed by Ganjam(108), Cuttack (71), Puri (60)and Khordha (50 ) cases. Two home guards of Polasara Police station who were on duty at Jagannathpur railway station and also the temporary Medical centres, tested COVID 19 positive. The district administration on hearing news, sent them to Parala Maharaja COVID Hospital & TATA COVID Hospital, Sitalapali.

Since 3rd May, about , 3,36,388 Odias have returned to Odisha by train/bus and other vehicles. The state government has made 14 days quarantine mandatory which included seven days institutional and rest seven day home quarantine for the returnees coming from various states to the rural areas.
