Bhubaneswar, May 22 : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today conveyed his state's absolute solidarity with the people of West Bengal at this hour of crisis caused by the severe cyclonic storm Amphan. Mr Patnaik spoke to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee over telephone and discussed with her the ravages caused to the state by the cyclonic storm Amphan.
He assured all possible support to West Bengal in terms of men and materials to overcome the critical situation. The severe cyclone storm Amphan which made a land fall in the Sundarbans on May 20 last, wreaked havoc in West Bengal claiming 72 lives and causing extensive damages to property. Mr Patnaik yesterday expressed deep grief at the loss of lives and massive damage to the property in West Bengal in the cyclonic storm Amphan and directed the Chief Secretary to be in touch with his counterpart of West Bengal and extend all possible support.
