The arrival of over two lakh Odias stranded in various other corona infested states has caused a major concern for the state increasing the number of covid cases everyday. The state government, however, maintained that since most of the positive cases were reported from the quarantine centres, which have been declared as containment zones, the people should not be panic at the sudden rise in the cases. Moreover, since the sample test for the virus has been raised to almost 5000 everyday, the positive cases will certainly rise, a government spokesman said.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already instructed the officials to raise the sample test to 15,000 per day in a bid to combat the coronavirus in the state. The state has already conducted more than one lakh sample tests and every day on an average 5,0000 sample tests are conducted. As per the latest statistics on coronavirus, Odisha has reported 1103 Covid positive cases with 343 recoveries and 753 active cases. Over 900 people are in hospital isolation. (UNI)
