Bhubaneswar, May 16: Odisha today reported 65 more covid positive cases,62 of them from government quarantine and rest three home quarantine, taking the total tally to 737. State Information and Public Relations Department sources said 65 fresh cases were reported from eight districts with Jajpur registering maximum of 31 cases followed by Ganjam(13),Cuttack (6) ,Puri and Kendrapara(4 each),Khordha ( 3), Mayurbhanj and Nayagarh (2 each) and Khordha (3). Ganjam district, a covid hot spot now continues to be at the top with 277 positive cases, mostly the Surat returnees. Jajpur and Balasore,both under Red Zone, reported 121 and 102 positive cases respectively with the arrival of thousands of West Bengal returnees.
Sources said out of 65 new cases today, as many as 35 were West Bengal returnees followed by Surat returnees (22), Ahmedabad returnees (6) and one Jharkhand returnee. As on today out of 86140 samples , 737 tested positive of which 166 have been cured and discharged from the hospital and 568 active cases are under treatment at various covid hospitals. (UNI)
