Bhubaneswar, May 4: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the Odia returnees to follow the quarantine guidelines or face strong action as covid positive cases in Odisha touched 163 with one fresh case. Official sources said a 29-year-old woman of Nala Road in Rourkela who was the neighbour of an earlier positive case has tested covid positive taking the total tally in the state to 163. While 56 of them have been cured and discharged from the hospitals,106 active cases are still undergoing treatment at various Covid hospitals in the state. Meanwhile, in the wake of indiscipline in some of the government quarantine centres by the Odia returnees, the chief minister today asked the returnees to follow all the quarantine guidelines or face strong action.
Patnaik said any violation of the quarantine guidelines will not be tolerated and would be dealt with strong action. He asked the sarpanch in charge of quarantine centre to inform the district administration on any kinds of indiscipline shown by the returnees. The chief minister said those returning to Odisha from other states are all our people and any negligence on their part will create problems for others in the state. He said the state government had taken all measures for the safe return of the stranded Odia people in other states and decided to put them in quarantine for 14 days for their well being and also safety of their family members, the society and the people of the state.(UNI)
