Bhubaneswar, Apr 27: Five more people tested covid positive in Odisha during the last 24 hours taking the total coronavirus positve cases to 108 in the state.
Official sources here today said all the new fresh five positive cases were reported from Balasore containment zone and were under home quarantine. Of the five cases, four were female aged about 55 years,22 years and 23 years. The fifth positive case was a 27 years old male.
The Contact tracing and follow-up action is being initiated by the local administration . With the five positive cases, the total covid positive cases in the Balasore district now went up to 15, majority of whom have travel history to West Bengal.
The Balasore district along with Bhadrak and Jajpur districts were recently put under a complete 60 hours shutdown, in the wake of rising coronavirus cases, mostly from the West Bengal returnees.
The lockdown was lifted yesterday at 1000 hours but the authority declared the areas where these positive cases were reported as containment zones.
Sources said so far 25103 samples have been tested in Odisha of which 108 have reported positive. While 35 have already cured and discharged from the Hospitals,only one has died and 72 people are undergoing treatment at various covid hospitals in the state. (UNI)
