Odisha government extends lockdown to entire state

Bhubaneswar,Mar 24: In a major decision, the Odisha government today decided to lockdown the entire state from midnight tonight to combat the spread of COVID19 in the state.

Odisha government chief spokesperson on Corona Subroto Bagchi told newspersons here that the lockdown would be enforced in all the districts of the state till the midnight of March 29.

The decision to bring all the 30 districts under the lockdown was taken after the Chief Secretary held a meeting with the concerned district collectors today.

In the first phase the government had declared lockdown in five districts—Khardaha, Cuttack, Ganjam, Kendrapara and Anukul and later it was extended to nine more districts—Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal,Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts.

He said during the lockdown period all shops and commercial establishments except medicine, fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, fish and meat shops will remain closed.

Police, fire brigade personnel, petrol pumps, hospitals, clinics and patho labs ODRAF and people working to fight Coronavirus would be exempted .
