Bhubnaeswar, Mar 15 : A day after sitting BJD MP from Nabarangpur Balabhadra Majhi resigned from the party, another sitting MLA from Nilagiri Sukanta Nayak resigned from the party today.
Mr.Nayak sent in his resignation letter to party President Naveen Patnailk alleging that he has been ignored by the party , a similar view expressed by the BJD MP Balabhadra Majhi also.
Mr. Nayak expressed his resentment over the functioning of district unit of the BJD when he was not invited to a joining ceremony organized by the Balasore district unit of Biju Janata Dal.
The sitting BJD MLA from Nilagiri also alleged that a big conspiracy is being hatched against him by a vested group in the party .
Political observers said the resignation of Mr. Nayak came in the wake of recent joining of BJP leader Sushama Biswal in BJD.
Ms Biswal had unsuccessfully contested the Nilagiri assembly sear from BJP in 2014 Assembly elections. She was defeated by Mr.Nayak in the election.
Speculation is rife that Sushama Biswal is all likely to contest the Nilagiri assembly seat as BJD candidate in the 2019 Assembly elections.
BJD MP Balabhadra Majhi who submitted his resignation form the primary membership of BJD told news men yesterday that he had decided to quit the party as he felt that the party is not functioning democratically as it should be and he has been ignored by the party in the past on several occasions.
