Agency News

Bhubaneswar,Jan 29: BJP President Amit Shah today appealed to the party workers and people to dislodge the Naveen Patnaik government and bring BJP to power in the state for development of a new Odisha.

Addressing party workers at Salepur in Cuttack district, Mr.Shah said the new Odisha under the BJP regime will not only eliminate poverty from the state but also ensure employment opportunity to the youths.

Mr.Shah, who took a dig at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for not speaking in Odia despite ruling the state for 19 years, said this time the people of Odisha should ensure a Odia speaking chief minister who will understand its culture, language and tradition.

The BJP President said he was confident that the people of the state would elect Mr.Modi for the second time at the Centre and the BJP in the state which is capable of building a new Odisha.

He lambasted Odisha Chief Minister for not implementing the Ayushmaan Bharat Yojana which would have benefited lakhs of people of the state.

Mr.Patnaik, the BJP President said, is so scared of the popularity of Prime minister Narendra Modi that he refused to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme, fearing that all the credit for the scheme would go to Mr. Modi.

“You have given the BJD 19 years to rule and now give BJP to rule the state for five years. We will make Odisha number one in the country,” he asserted.

Mr.Shah dubbed both the Congress and the BJD as the two sides of a same coin who have utterly failed to develop the state during their regime .

He flayed the Naveen Patnaik government stating that how can the government protect the people when it failed to protect the Ratna Bhandar(temple treasury) of Sri Jagannath temple.

Mr.Shah also came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik government for its failure to utilize the central fund as well as the District Mineral Fund for the development of the state and its people.

The 14th Finance Commission had earmarked Rs 2.11 lakh crore for Odisha, but the government failed to utilise the funds as a result the benefits could not reach the people of the state.

Mr. Shah asked the party workers not to sleep till Mr.Modi is elected for the second time and the Naveen Patnaik government is ousted.

Earlier in the day, the BJP president visited Satyabhamapur in Cuttack, the birth place of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das to pay his floral tribute at the statue.

Later Mr. Shah tweeted: “ Fortunate to have visited the birth place of 'Utkal Gouraba' Madhusudan Das ji and paid my floral tributes. Madhu Babu's contribution towards the social & economic upliftment of the people of Odisha is truly great. As a Chintak, patriotism was always at the fore in his creations." (UNI)
