New Delhi, Jun 7 : Total 46,66,386 samples have been tested across the country, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said in its data released on Sunday. According to the agency, 1,42,069 samples have been tested in the past 24 hours. Gradually with improvement and the recent advancements, the testing capacity of the nation has stepped and as more number of tests have been taking place compared to previous times with more accuracy and in less duration, it stated.
ICMR has given guidelines to the labs, centres and hospitals in terms of COVID-19 testing and the agency officials are keeping a watch on how everything is being executed. Meanwhile, the country's SARS-COV-2 tally surpassed Spain's count with its cases shooting up to 2,46,628 and became the fifth-worst coronavirus-hit country in the world after 9,971 confirmed cases were reported till Sunday morning. Active cases of the pandemic have also stepped up to 1,20,406, the health ministry data said. (UNI)
