New Delhi, Jun 6 : The Union and the Delhi governments have been urged to take preventive measures and create awareness as experts at IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, have predicted a major earthquake in Delhi-NCR soon. The IIT's departments of applied geophysics and seismology on Friday forecast that a major quake may hit the city, NCR in the coming days.
" Time has come for the Union and Delhi governments to take all required measures for its prevention and create awareness," said P K Khan, Professor at the applied geophysics department and the head of the seismology department at IIT (ISM), Dhanbad. Delhi-NCR has experienced 11 tremors in the past two months, which shows an increase in the accumulation of strain energy, the professor said.
