India Greens Party extends greetings on World Environment Day

Agency News

New Delhi, Jun 5 : India Greens Party (IGP) on Friday greeted the people on the occasion of the World Environment Day (WED) and called upon them to find time for nature and rededicate themselves to protect it from all impending ecological and environmental threats. The WED is celebrated on 5 June every year and it is the UN principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Each year, it provides a new theme that the governments, organisations, corporations, NGOs, communities and all celebrities worldwide adopt to advocate environmental causes.

The theme for World Environment Day 2020 is biodiversity -- a concern that is both urgent and existential. The president of the first pan-India green party, Suresh Nautiyal in a press statement called it every individual's duty and responsibility to find time for Nature and rededicate ourselves to protect it from all impending ecological and environmental threats. “That is one of the ways to celebrate the World Environment Day,” he added. On the occasion, Mr Nautiyal called upon the Government of India (GoI) not to go ahead with all those projects that pose threats to the ecology and environment and put the future of the generations ahead in danger. “On this occasion, it is important to know that climate emergency is for real and it is the responsibility of every citizen and every government to deal with the critical situation,” he pointed out. Mr Nautiyal said it is high time to learn from the Corona pandemic, which is a result of the ecological crisis. (UNI)
