New Delhi , Jun 2 : Manu Sharma, the convict in the infamous 1999 Jessica Lal murder case has been released after 17 years of imprisonment. Sharma, was released on Monday with other inmates on the grounds of good conduct, as ordered by Delhi Home department.
Otherwise, Sharma would have served for a longer period, had the board (SRB) not recommended his early release, that is said to have happened in May.
After the board's recommendation, the decision was signed by the Lieutenant Governor Delhi Anil Baijal.
A former Union Minister's son, Sharma was convicted in December 2006 by Delhi High Court and sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of Jessica Lal, back in 1999. He was already out on parole in view of the jail measures in the contagion times to prevent the virus spread. (UNI)
