New Delhi, May 26 : Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to interfere with the Andhra Pradesh High Court order in connection with the Vizag Gas Leak case and asked LG Polymers that National Green Tribunal (NGT) or state high court would hear this matter at a later stage. The Apex Court, however, allowed certain officials of the LG Polymers to go to the plant and supervise it and asked the company to cooperate with the inquiry initiated by the High Court.

A bench comprising Justices UU Lalit, Mohan M Shantanagoudar and Vineet Saran was hearing a petition filed by LG polymers seeking emergency access to the plant among others. In the previous hearing, the Apex Court had refused to immediately interfere with NGT order directing LG Polymers to deposit Rs 50 crore for damages caused by a gas leak in Vizag.

The petitioner, LG Polymers, had in the Apex Court, also raised questions over setting up of several committees by the High Court, National Human Rights Commission and Central government into the Vizag gas leakage in Andhra Pradesh on May 7 this year. The apex court said that the matter can be raised before the NGT on June 1 and kept it pending for further consideration and hearing on June 8. (UNI)
