New Delhi, May 24 : Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday assured trial for 15-year-old Jyoti Kumari, who peddled over 1000 kms on cycle from Gurugram to Darbhanga in Bihar with her injured father as pillion during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Minister said that he will instruct the officials of Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Cycling Federations of India to conduct a trial of the young girl.
Responding to various Union Ministers and other persons, Mr Rijiju said Jyoti will be selected as a trainee at the National Academy in the IGI Stadium Complex in New Delhi, if she is found to have potential. 'I assure. Will ask the SAI officials and Cycling Federations of India to report to me after conducting the trials of Jyoti Kumari. If found to have potential, she will be selected as a trainee at the National Cycling Academy in the IGI Stadium complex in New Delhi,' the Sports Minister tweeted.
Earlier, Union Ministers from Bihar, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan requested Mr Rijiju to identify Jyoti's talent. 'During these difficult times we all are doing the best to help citizens. Was moved to see the courage of a young girl from Bihar who peddled for over 1000 Kms on cycle from Gurugram to Darbhanga with her father as pillion. Spoke to Kiren Rijiju for identifying her talent", Mr Prasad tweeted.
Taking to twitter, Mr Paswan also requested Mr Rijiju to arrange proper training and scholarship for Jyoti to groom her cycling talent. (UNI)
