New Delhi, May 24 : COVID-19 and cyclone Amphan are not only two concurrent calamities but also the result of one common factor- over consumption.
According to experts, there is no direct link between the two 'blows,'- but these phenomena are cognate in the sense that they are all products of the tremendous acceleration that occurred over the last 30 years across the world. During this period, they pointed out that extreme forms of neo-liberal capitalism have been imposed upon the world by global elites.
"This period has been called the 'Great Acceleration,' which is appropriate because it is the acceleration of consumption and production, and the resulting rise in greenhouse gas emissions, that lies behind all these crises- from the pandemic to the climate break down," the experts observed in unison.
