Bhubneswar, May 22 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced Rs 500 crore advance assistance to Odisha ravaged by the severe cyclonic storm Amphan. Mr Modi, who undertook an aerial survey of the Cyclone Amphan hit areas in north coastal districts in Odisha, announced the assistance after a review meeting at the conference hall of the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sharangi and senior officials of the state government were present at the review meeting. Mr Modi said when the country has been fighting Covid-19 for the last two months, the Super Cyclone Amphan has caused extensive damage to West Bengal and Odisha, although the extent of damage in Odisha is less in comparison to West Bengal.
He congratulated the people of Odisha, the administration, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his full team for successfully saving people's lives and minimizing the damage. More (UNI)
