New Delhi, May 19 : The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to interfere with the National Green Tribunal (NGT's) order forming a fact-finding committee to probe into the Vizag gas leakage tragedy at LG Polymers that claimed 11 lives and several critically injured.
A bench headed by Justice U U Lalit said, 'Since the matter is seized with the NGT, we grant liberty to the petitioner to raise arguments before the Tribunal when it is listed for an hearing on June 1.' "We refuse to interfere with NGT's order, forming a fact-finding committee, headed by ex-judge of Andhra Pradesh HC, B Seshasayana Reddy, in the case and fixed the matter for further hearing to June 8," Justice Lalit said. LG Polymers today questioned before the Supreme Court setting up of several committees by HC, NHRC and Central govt into the gas leakage incident of May 7.
At this, the Apex Court said that the matter can be raised before the NGT on June 1 and kept the matter pending for consideration on June 8. The sad and unfortunate Vizag gas leakage tragedy on May 7, at LG Polymers plant in the state of Andhra Pradesh had claimed the lives of 11 people and left over two dozens grievously injured. (UNI)
