Kolkata, May 18 : Union tourism secretary would hold a meeting on May 21 with the tourism heads of state governments and union territories to discuss the major challenges and opportunities for restoration of domestic traveling across India in the face of Covid-19 situation.
" The outbreak of Covid-19 presents the tourism sector with a major challenges and opportunities and in order to take forward the domestic tourism in post Covid-19 era a meeting will be held on May 21," Union ministry of tourism additional director general Rupinder Brar said in letter to the tourism heads of the states and UTs. The Union secretary would chair the meeting at 3 pm via video conferencing the letter said. The agenda among others are working together to promote local and domestic tourism and discussion on protocol for state governments/UTs in the post Covid -19 era.
All the tourism heads of states and UTs have been requested to confirm and attend the video conferencing meeting, the first of its kind in recent years, especially when the travelling and hospitality sectors touched the rock bottom due to restriction of movement and lockdown. (UNI)
