New Delhi, May 15: Appreciating the financial measures announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday to provide relief to migrants, farmers and the poor under the second tranche of economic package worth Rs 20 lakh crore, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that these measures 'testify' slogan given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ''Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas'' (collective effort and inclusive growth). In a series of tweets, he said that the Rs 4.22 lakh crore loan for around 3 crore farmers shows the Modi government's commitment to the welfare of the farmers.
''I thank PM Modi for his decision to give free ration for two months to eight crore migrant workers and urban poor at the cost of Rs 3500 crore,'' Shah said, adding that Rs 11002 crore has already been granted to SDRF Funds of the States. He also said that at the time of this disaster, the Modi Government is equally concerned for the street vendors. A relief package of Rs 5,000 crore has been announced which will help over 50 lakh vendors across the country, he said.
''Owing to this global pandemic, many migrant labourers living on rent have got problem, for this the Modi government will start a scheme under PMAY to provide affordable rent accommodation to these migrant labourers and poor homeless people living in the city. I heartily welcome this initiative," Shah said. As many as 2.5 crore farmers will be provided Rs 2 lakh crore of concessional credit through Kisan Credit Cards, the Home Minister added. With one nation- one ration card scheme, the migrant families will be able to take ration from ration shops in non-home States, Shah said. (UNI)
