New Delhi, May 15: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday expressed grief over deaths of migrant labourers in road accidents in MP, UP and Bihar. Migrant labourers were returning to their home states in the wake of the lockdown declared in the nation due to the outbreak of COVID 19.
In his message, Birla said that he was deeply pained by the sad news of deaths of migrant labourers returning to their home states in MP, UP and Bihar. He assured that adequate provisions of food, water and other essential items shall be made for migrant labourers passing through his parliamentary constituency of Kota-Bundi. Mr Birla requested all Members of Parliament to provide assistance to migrant labourers passing through their constituencies.
He emphasised that in these difficult times, their responsibility, as public representatives towards helping and assisting the people, increases manifold. (UNI)
