New Delhi, May 12 : The first special train to be restored after suspension of passenger train services due to COVID 19 -- train No 02442 New Delhi to Bilaspur Special train -- will start its journey on Tuesday from New Delhi Railway Station. With the departure of this train, restoration of passenger train services on Indian Railways will start in a graded manner.
Today, a total of eight trains are departing from various cities including New Delhi. Three Special trains shall depart from New Delhi today while five special trains shall depart from other cities towards New Delhi. These special train services shall be in addition to the Shramik specials, being run by Indian Railways to transport stranded migrants. As many as 1,177 passengers are booked in the New Delhi Bilaspur special train, a total of 1,122 passengers are booked in New Delhi Dibrugarh special Train and 1,162 passengers are booked in New Delhi-Bengaluru special train, an official release here siad.
Altogether 3,461 passengers will leave New Delhi today in the three Special Trains restored by Indian Railways. According to railway officials, a total 45,533 PNRs (bookings) have been generated and reservation issued to 82,317 passengers for special trains. The total collection is Rs 16,15,63,821. Total 741 PNRs were generated for 1,177 passengers travelling in the New Delhi Bilaspur special train; total 442 PNRs were generated for 1,122 passengers travelling in New Delhi Dibrugarh special train and total 804 PNRs were generated for 1,162 passengers are travelling in New Delhi-Bengaluru special train.
