180 stranded passengers arrive from Malaysia

Chennai, May 12 : A total of 180 passengers, who were stranded in Malaysia, arrived at the Anna International by an Air India Express flight at 2310 hrs last night and customs officials facilitated their smooth clearance. A release from the Office of the Customs Commissioner said this is the fourth repatriation flight as part of the Vande Bharat Mission.

The evacuation flight from Kuala Lumpur carried 180 passengers, including 58 men and 119 women and three infants. There were three passengers on wheelchairs. All passengers were facilitated for smooth customs clearance. Later, health officials collected the swab samples from the passengers to ascertain whether they were exposed to coronavirus after which they were sent for 14 day quarantine. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, all international flights have been grounded since March 22. (UNI)
