FIR registered against Arnab Goswami over Palghar remarks

Nagpur, April 23: Nagpur Police has registered an FIR against Republic TV editorin-chief Arnab Goswami for allegedly violating an environment of harmony by provocative remarks over a particular community and creating animosity among different communities through his statements on the TV debate. The complaint was filed by Maharashtra Energy Minister and Senior Congress leader Dr Nitin Raut at Sadar police station in the city on Wednesday, police said. In the complaint, Mr Raut held Goswami accountable for spreading rumours, playing communal canards in the context of Palghar mob-lynching case. Following which police registered the case under various IPC sections of 153 A(promoting enmity between different groups), 295 A(Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) and 502(2)(making statements that create enmity and spread hatred between different classes).
