New Delhi, Apr 24 : Reacting to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's criticism on holding DA of central government employees, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday said that "entire country was fighting against COVID-19 but the Congress fighting against the union government." 'Rahul Gandhi never gives constructive suggestions but only gives suggestion to oppose the government and today also Mr Gandhi did same by his tweet. People are with the Government and unitedly they are fighting Corona.
But here is the Congress bankrupt leadership which is opposing every day move of the government," Mr Javadekar said. 'We condemn this attitude of the Congress . Let the Congress understand the pulse of people and the nation,' he added. Earlier in the day, in a post on social media, Mr Gandhi said, 'Cutting the Dearness Allowance of Central Government employees, pensioners and the Jawans, instead of suspending ambitious projects like the Bullet Train project and the Central Vista Beautification project, is a insensitive and inhuman decision by the NDA government.
' The Union Finance Ministry on Thursday announced that it has put on hold a hike in DA for central government employees and DR for central government pensioners till July next year. "In view of the crisis arising out of Covid-19, it has been decided that the additional installment of dearness allowance (DA) payable to central government employees and dearness relief (DR) to central government pensioners, due from 1st January, 2020 shall not be paid. Additional installments of DA and DR from 1 July 2020 and 1 Jan 2021 shall also not be paid," the Ministry of Finance said in a memo. However, Dearness allowance and dearness relief at current rates will continue to be paid, it said. (UNI)
