Srinagar, Apr 19: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Sunday paid floral tribute to three jawans killed in a militant attack in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A CRPF spokesperson told UNI that wreath-laying ceremony was held at RTC CRPF Humhama in Srinagar on Sunday to honour the valour of three jawans, who were martyred in a militant attack on a Naka party near Ahad Bab crossing in Sopore.
“Inspector General (IG) of CRPF, Kashmir (Operations) Rajesh Yadav and all ranks paid homage to the soldiers on behalf of a proud nation,” he said.
He said that the mortal remains of the martyrs would be flown for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full honours.
Giving details about the incident, an official said militants on Saturday evening fired at a security force checkpoint near Ahad Bab crossing in Sopore. “Five CRPF jawans were critically injured in the attack,” he said, adding the wounded were immediately taken to a hospital where three of them succumbed.
The deceased were identified as Head Constable Rajeev Sharma, Constable Parmar Satpal and Constable C B Bakhre. “The wounded have been identified as Head Constable Biswajeet Ghosh and Constable Javed Ahmad,” he added.(UNI)
