New Delhi, Apr 17 : Amid continuing ceasefire violations by Pakistan in northern sector, the Border Security Force (BSF) has asked its frontier headquarters on western border to strictly follow COVID-19 protocol.
More so in case any packets or parcels are thrown from the Pakistan side. The new direction has been sent to the western frontiers headquarters as Pakistan is busy with its nefarious plans to escalate tension on the borders at a time when the entire world is grappling with the deadly coronavirus pandemic though this also affects them badly. A senior official said though there is standard operating procedure already in place to handle such incidents, taking extra precaution is the need of the hour.
He also said that there has been a sharp decline in smuggling of drugs and counterfeit Indian currency due to strict vigil of the BSF but the Pakistan Rangers leave no opportunity to execute their wicked plan. “Around one third of BSF personnel had gone home and they were supposed to join duty in the first week of April. But they have been stuck due to the ongoing lockdown,” the officials said, adding that the Force on April 7 asked them to stay wherever they are till the lockdown period comes to an end.
“We have to contain the spread of this deadly coronavirus and we cannot afford to have our men fall sick because of it as this may impact their border guarding duty which is now at its peak,” he added.(UNI)
