New Delhi, Apr 16: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said the ongoing lockdown in the country is not a solution to the COVID-19 crisis and called for carrying out aggressive testing to tackle the threat.
'Lockdown is in no way a solution to the #OVID19. Lockdown is like a pause button. When we come out of the lockdown, the virus is going to start its work again. Aggressive testing is the key to defeat Corona virus infection. Aggressive testing can help defeat Coronavirus," Mr Gandhi was addressing the media via video conferencing.
Asserting that the lockdown does not defeat the virus but only stops it for some time, he said, 'It is important that we have a strategy to come out of the lockdown.' Stressing the need to carry out aggressive testing, he said, 'Use testing to identify the COVID-19 hotspots dynamically and then clampdown on those areas.' The Congress leader said that the fight against Coronavirus should be bottom-up not top-down. 'The role of the PM is to strengthen the states. Give resources in their hands,' he said. (UNI)
