Jalandhar, Apr 14: Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Tuesday paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.
Dr Ambedkar not only laid the foundation of Indian democracy by drafting the Constitution, he also crafted the better lives of oppressed people of India, Mr Chaudhary said after paying tributes to the ardent social reformer and eminent jurist at District Administration Complex today. He stated that Dr Ambedkar dedicated his entire life for the uplift of scheduled castes, women, poor and marginalised sections of the society.
The MP said the great architect of the Constitution treasured and fought for the ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity, adding that he laid emphasis not only on political equality and justice, but also on socio-economic equality and justice. He went on to say that Dr Ambedkar believed that education is the tool by which the inequality, poverty and oppression would be alleviated from Indian society. For him, cultivation of mind was the ultimate aim of human existence. The MP urged the people to protect the democratic and secular values on which the nation’s foundation was laid by Dr Ambedkar with untiring efforts. (UNI)
