New Delhi, Apr 9: As many as 540 new Covid cases and 17 more deaths appeared in last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 5,734 while casualties to 166, Union Health Ministry said here on Thursday. So far, 473 people have been recovered and discharged.
In the daily press briefing, Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said Group of Ministers (GoM) had a high-level meeting, in which COVID-19 containment, management and setting up of dedicated COVID Hospitals were discussed. He said in order to prepare 80,000 isolation beds, Railways is working to convert 5,000 train coaches into quarantine/isolation facilities for COVID-19.
"Conversion of 3,250 coaches has already been completed," Agarwal informed. (UNI)
