Prez asks State Govts to take support from NGOs, social & religious outfits to tackle Corona threat

Chandigarh, Mar 27: President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday asked all the State Governments to take full support of government and non-governmental organisations, social and religious organisations to tackle the Corona threat.

The President stated this while presiding over a review meeting, regarding the preparedness to tackle Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with the Governors and Lieutenant Governors of the States and Union Territories today from Rashtrapati Bhavan over video conferencing. During the first session, Mr Kovind spoke to the Governors of Maharashtra, Kerala, and Karnataka including Haryana and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. He reviewed with the governors of a total of 15 states in two sessions today. He thanked the people of the country for their cooperation in dealing with the Corona epidemic and also congratulated the doctors, policemen, officers, employees of other departments and also those involved in this task.

On this occasion, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu reviewed the status of the various states in regard to COVID-19 and gave necessary directions. He appreciated the efforts made by the Haryana Government to deal with the pandemic in the State. (UNI)
