The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) said that at least 35 private labs have now been approved for Covid-19 testing in the country.
Six laboratories from Delhi, four from Gujarat, three from Haryana, two from Karnataka, nine from Maharashtra, one from Odisha, four from Tamil Nadu, five from Telangana and one from West Bengal have got ICMR's nod. Meanwhile, diagnostic services provider Dr Lal PathLabs has started conducting coronavirus tests. The private lab charges ₹4,500 for the coronavirus test and the report will be available in 2 days.
In addition, four national institutes in India have been identified to validate Non-US FDA/EUA Covid-19 testing kits. ICMR has said that reagents required for COVID 19 are being stored at seven centres across India.
Earlier, 12 private diagnostic chains across six states had got approval from the government to test coronavirus (COVID-19) samples, the union ministry of health and family welfare had said on Monday.
