New Delhi, Mar 24: Amid the Coronavirus outbreak in the country, President Ram Nath Kovind and VicePresident M Venkaiah Naidu have greeted the people on the eve of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba, which mark the beginning of a New Year in different parts of India, by asking them to maintain social distancing.
Extending his greetings and good wishes to fellow citizens, the President in a message said "May these festivals strengthen the bonds of amity and fraternity among our fellow citizens" However, he cautioned the people must fight the COVID-19 virus with full determination, saying "Maintain social distancing and all other precautions while celebrating the festivals.”
The Vice President called upon the people to adopt a hygienic way of life and support the government in combating the Coronavirus. Referring to the ancient Indian values of ‘share and care’, Naidu hoped that everyone will do whatever it takes to alleviate human suffering and hardship by providing support to those who need it, an official release here said.
