New Delhi, Mar 23: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the ‘delay’ in banning export of ventilators and surgical masks as the number of coronavirus cases are rising day-by-day and prices of essential commodities soaring.
"Respected Prime Minister, WHO advised 1. Ventilator 2. Surgical Mask, why did the government permit the export of all these things till March 19, instead of keeping sufficient stock?”, Mr Gandhi asked in a tweet in Hindi.
“Isn’t it a criminal conspiracy?”, the Congress leader further asked while sharing a news report over the issue.
The Union government had banned export of all ventilators, surgical/disposable masks and raw material for masks on March 19.
Earlier, Congress communication in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala also criticised the government over the same issue and asked, “Respected Prime Minister, this is criminal conspiracy. As WHO asked for stockpiling of ventilators, surgical masks, disposable masks, raw material for masks, coveralls, India permitted their export (at 10 times the price) uptill March 19” (UNI)
