New Delhi, Mar 23: Lauding the response by the people to the Janta curfew, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday urged people to bear with restrictions imposed by the central and state Governments and cooperate in the ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the killer coronavirus.
Naidu, referring to Sunday's Janta curfew said, “The extraordinary response of the people (on Sunday) was a clear demonstration of the collective resolve of the nation to address the formidable challenge of Corona virus. This House takes note of this positive response and also the need to keep focussed on concrete action and keeping this spirit alive as we brace ourselves for the challenges ahead in the coming weeks.”
Noting that extraordinary situations warrant extreme measures, the Rajya Sabha urged the people to bear with restrictions being imposed and cooperate as they did on Sunday. “This House records its appreciation of the overwhelming response of the people of the country to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call for Janta curfew yesterday and urge them to be guided by the same spirit till the war on corona virus is finally won.”(UNI)
