New Delhi, Mar 23: BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed party general secretary Arun Singh as the central observer for Madhya Pradesh Legislature Party meeting. According to a party statement on Monday, Singh and national vice-president and in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will conduct the meeting of Madhya Pradesh BJP Legislature Party through video conferencing.
The oath-taking ceremony of Madhya Pradesh’s new Chief Minister is scheduled at 2100 hrs in Bhopal at Raj Bhavan, it was officially learnt. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, precautionary measures are in place at the Governor’s official residence where an extremely limited number of people will be present during the programme that shall not be ostentatious. BJP vice-president Shivraj Singh Chouhan seems all set to assume the reins as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, a responsibility he earlier shouldered for in excess of a decade.
Chouhan bowed out of office in the wake of the Assembly elections and was succeeded by Congress stalwart and erstwhile central minister Kamal Nath who was sworn in on December 17. A political maelstrom of unprecedented intensity resulted in Nath’s resignation on Friday. (UNI)
