Agency News

New Delhi, Mar 20 : Elders in the Rajya Sbha on Friday urged the Government to evacuate the stranded Indian students in Manila in Philippines. Raising this issue during the Zero Hour, BJP Member Satish Chandra Dubey said that many Indian students, including three from his constituency, have been stuck due to travel ban in Philippines.

Highlighting the plight of those students, Mr Dubey said they bought air tickets on exorbitant prices and their immigration were also cleared, but they could not embark on the journey because of the travel ban by the local Government. He requested the Union Government to evacuate them at the earliest, as the whole city was locked down, in view of COVID-19. Another BJP lawmaker Kirori Lal Meena urged the Government to evacuate the Rajasthani students stuck in Manila.

He said the same thing that their immigration were cleared, but they are unable to come to India due to the Government's decision to ban all international flights to India. Mr Meena also urged the Centre to evacuate them on priority basis. (UNI)
