New Delhi, Mar 19 : The Sports Ministry on Thursday advised National Sports Federations (NSFs), IOA, BCCI to refrain from conducting tournaments and selection trials till April 15, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic which has wreaked havoc on sporting events across the globe.
"All sport organisations and their affiliate units are advised against holding any sports events, including competitions or selection trials till 15th April, 2020," the ministry said in a letter. The ministry asked the NSF's to ensure that Olympic-bound athletes are isolated from anyone who is not a part of their training camp. The advisory also said that coaches or training staff who are currently not residing in the camp will not be allowed to interact or mingle with trainee athletes without following the quarantine protocols.
According to Union Health Ministry, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases have reached 166 in India on Thursday, including four deaths. (UNI)
