New Delhi , Mar 19 : The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 166 in India on Thursday morning, Union Health Ministry said. Active cases across the country of COVID-19 at present 148, according to the Health Ministry. There have been three deaths so far due to the Coronavirus while 14 persons have recovered and one migrated.
The fourteen persons who have recovered have been discharged. According to the government data, Maharashtra so far has the highest number of cases- 42, including one death, followed by Kerala with 25 out of which three have recovered. Out of the 166 confirmed cases, 25 are foreign nationals, the Ministry said. Total number of passengers screened at airport are 13,93,301, according to the official data. Meanwhile , on Wednesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19.
The PMO had said that ways to further strengthen India’s preparedness were discussed at the meeting. The meeting emphasised on actively engaging with individuals, local communities and organisations in chalking out mechanisms to fight the menace of Coronavirus. The PM in the meeting had also urged officials and technical experts to deliberate on the steps to be taken next. (UNI)
